Ημερολόγιο/Calendar

Γεια σας παιδιά!
I just wanted to remind you that the deadline for submitting the multicultural calendar is on 29th of August. Feel free to make any changes to the structure of the calendar so as to meet your needs. The template is just the beginning, be creative about this! Remember the following:
• Names of the months and days of the week in Greek (you can keep the English world together with the Greek and also translate it to your mother tongues. Be consistent for all months!)
• Keep at least one photo in each month (you can put more but not less)
• The empty box is the box where you should write your reflections, your moto in a nutshell, lyrics of your favourite song, important dates of Cyprus/ your country history, name days, your comments about the weather in each month, important academic dates, proverbs, your advice to Cypriots or other foreigners in Cyprus
• You can also make notes in the specific days so as to remind us what we have to remember from your country
• You are free to write your comments in Greek (preferable), English or in your language
• Write the names of contributors for each month in the box provided
The following webpages can help you proceed further:

Δεύτερο βδομάδα στην Κύπρο

David

This week came here my new flatmate Tom. Tom is coming from Czcech Republic. I'm slowly getting used to hot weather on the Cyprus, but it is very hard. I was ill for about 2 days, probably from air condition. Now I'm O.K.

I met three new friends from Germany, Libya and India. Trip on the Pafos was very interesting, but the best of all for my was small old church built in the rock.

Have a nice day

Laura

The best day of the week is always on Thursday. This week we could visit beautiful beaches in Lárnaca.

The worst of the week is that Antigoni put us a lot of homework and exams! =(

Αμαράντα: Το νερό

Water in Cyprus is quite different from back home, both drinking water and water at the beach. Actually, although I live in the south of Spain, on the coast, our beaches are completely different. Cold water, lots of big waves, no pebbles, no many rocks and lots and lots of bright sand. Anyway, after the crowded beaches of Λεμεσός, we discovered a very nice coastline in the Παφός area. Let’s see what the rest of Cypriot beaches are hiding!

If anyone is interested in finding an apartment in Nicosia, check this webpage.

This wordle image displays your reflections of Week 2... Words with bold and big letters are the ones that were mostly given to characterise your feelings about this week! So... what do you think?

Group Session: Second Week Reflections

What are your reflections from this week? What have you learned? What did you like the most and what least? Be creative about this!

Μελίνα Μερκούρη

Γεια σας!

I would like to share with you a bit of Greek culture that may be interesting for you. This is Melina Mercouri, a Greek actress of a film I really did enjoy (Never on Sunday). After reading a bit about her I discovered that she opposed the dictatorship in Greece and later became the Minister for Culture.

Enjoy!

Our name is οι τρλοί γάτοι and you have to find out the meaning. We chose it because we like discovering the city, sleeping and eating (specially roasted mice).
Καλό σαββατοκυρίακο!

Ντέιβιντ:
Begining of our stay in Cyprus was very interesting. When we arrived
at our adress nobody stay at flat. We went to the Luxury hostel but
sleeping Boss on the balcony said us we are full... In the end taxi
driver we drove us on Pafkos hotel. We slept here first night. There I
learned what does it mean αργά-αργά.
During the week, I met with my new cassmates and I found new friends.
I liked most the trip on the Throdos mountains and very good vine with lunch.

Λάουρα:

This photo represents the positive things of this week. People in this course are very friendly and in only a week we have get a good relation.

The negative things of this week could be the accommodation because I have had to spend a few days in a hostel. It was not the best place for sleeping but people were very nice.

Αμαράντα:

Καλημέρα!

As you see, we had a very good time in Troodos mountains. One of the big moments was definitely the lunch.

We tried a lot of new and delicious things. So here you are some of the names.

Can you guess what they are? Πεινώ, πεινώ!

Κρισμαρ
Ραφαελλοσ
Τομασ

name of the group: Αυγη

Positive moments: We really enjoy teacher's company and coordinator's company, friendly atmosphere and it is fun and easy to learn greek. The method of the study is very interesting and motivating. We like the city, especially because we have a perfect accomodation with Alexandra and Air conditioner. We like the local people and their kindness and they make our staying in here were welcoming and warm. It is nice that you have the sea and lovely limestone houses, markets that make this city very inspiring.

Negative: Krismar, Rafail did not like taxidrivers in Lemesos. They left us in the middle of the street like we were somekind of rubbish and we cried like babies or like Justin Timberlake and we know officially hate black Mercedes. Only directions he gave was: I dont know, my friend. Then he lit his cigarette and ... Oh well. forget that.

About cheap supermarket Carrefour, It is situated about 6 km from our accomodation. We have to walk a lot.

In conclusion I would like to say that Cypros, especialy Lemesos(Limassol) is very friendly and nice place.

Group Session 1: First Week Reflections

What’s a reflective diary?
We have reached the end of the first week of the EILC11. Work in groups and try to keep an online reflective diary. A reflective diary is a way of thinking in a critical and analytical way about your work in progress. It shows how different aspects of your work interconnect. Be creative about this!

What happened?
Describe your first impression, what you did and what you learned. Is it still all Greek to you? Make sure you talk about what you expect and what you get from this course!

How do you feel about it?
What is important, interesting, relevant or useful? Is it something you are proud of?
• Reflective diaries are a record of experiences, so it is important to use them to report thoughts, feelings and opinions rather than simply the factual events of any given day.
• Only by reporting personal feelings following an event can experiences be built on and improved.
• It is important to use the reflective diary to record positive experiences and achievements as well as the not so positive ones.

What did I learn?

What have I learned? Is it interesting and useful in your daily practice/ professional practice? Did this course improve your staying in Cyprus? What are you now going to do with the new knowledge and skills you have gained from doing this work? In other words, how will it influence your future staying in Cyprus?

Getting Started
• Allow some time to think through your thoughts and ideas
• Don’t worry about style or presentation (this is not a test it is a record for you and an insight to your thoughts for your teacher)
• Reflect on your thoughts and feelings about the processes you are undertaking and the results of those actions. In other words, don’t simply record a list of actions; think about what your thoughts are in relation to those actions.

Format of a reflective diary

The Erasmus Intensive Language Course will last for 4 weeks. It is expected from each group to write at least four posts (one for each week).

In the first post include:
• Greeting, names and nationality/country of origin of the group members in Greek
• Reflections of what you did and what you have learned in both Greek and English.

You can use:
• photographs or video
• power point presentation
• photo story
• narration
• links
• anything else that you may find useful in order to share you experience with other people
